One of the first examples of compulsive hoarding that caught the public eye was that of the Collyer brothers of New York. The two men had a inability to throw out anything, and in 1947 were found dead among 100 tons of junk in their Manhattan townhouse, victims of their own booby traps. Here are some recent examples of hoarders:
