A farmer is cashing in after figuring out a way to grow pears shaped like baby Buddhas. Gao Xianzhang, of Hexia village in Hebei province, thought of putting moulds on the fruit as it grew on the tree. After six years, he says he has perfected his technique.
“It was more difficult than I expected. You have to test when the best time is to put the moulds on the pears, and when to take them off again. If you leave the moulds on for too long, the pears start to rot inside,”
